Blingo Buzz: April 2006

After almost a week without a Frenzy, a big one hit today. This morning for half an hour we gave away an iPod Nano every two minutes on average. Take a look at this snapshot of our winner list during the frenzy:

Did you happen to use Blingo last night? If so, you may have seen our Frenzy of Visa Gift Cards. We gave away one every couple of minutes for half an hour. Each one was worth $25, and we're sending them out to winners in Michigan, Florida, New Jersey, California, New York, Missouri, Utah, Virginia, and Massachusetts.

If you missed the Frenzy, don't worry. First of all, we give away tons of prizes every day, all day long. Second of all, more Frenzies are on the way. They might show up on a weekend, in the middle of the night ... you just never know.

If you're a Mac user, there's a good chance you use Safari to browse the web. Safari has a search box in the upper right corner of every window for handy searching, just like Firefox, with one difference: it's stuck on Google.

Now you can add Blingo to your Safari search box. Here are two ways to do it:

• AcidSearch is a Safari plugin that adds several interesting features to the search box, and it can point your search box at whatever engine you like. Take a look at this great screencast, which shows you step-by-step how to add Blingo to Safari after you install AcidSearch. (Thanks to Garrett Murray, a Blingo user we've never even met, for creating that helpful little video!)

• Inquisitor is another Safari plugin, and if you've installed it then you just need to add Blingo to the top of your search engine list. Tell Inquisitor to use this search string: "http://www.blingo.com/search?q=%@"

Well we know we just had a Blingo Frenzy yesterday afternoon, but we had another one less than 24 hours later. This morning at the crack of dawn we suddenly gave away 13 more Visa Gift Cards worth a hundred bucks each.

That's two great Frenzies in a row!

Alright, I had my skeptical moments. Time after time I used Blingo to search and never did I feel a sliver of luck. But today I won! Yesseree, I won a $10 iTunes gift certificate.

Woah, this morning we gave away 59 prizes in half an hour. Do the math: that's about one every 30 seconds. Our regular users know that Blingo goes into a Frenzy like this from time to time, but you never know when.
